Another legend of Yugoslav football stood in line and talked under his breath about Radomir Antic, the coach who died yesterday at the age of 71.
Robert Prosinečki remembers Antic well from the time when they worked together in Spain.
"You see what football and life are for you. If I had come to him at Atlético instead of Barcelona, maybe Atlético would not have won the double crown. It turned out better for Radomir that Milinko Pantić came, and I went to Barca. Someone wrote it down that way. He loved such players, with a strong break. He based his tactics and details on that. I brought a lot of things to him in Oviedo. That's why he loved me", says Prosinečki for Mozart sport" and adds:
"He welcomed me in Real, and later we were in Oviedo. After severe injuries, he believed in me because he entrusted me with the keys to the midfield. I'm not going to hide it, he was kind to me, he knew how to put up with me, although that environment was unusual for both him and me".
"I practically grew up in Red Star, that's where I formed as a person. Then I played for Real. He is a partisan, and in his CV it is said that he was in Real. Do you know what that means? If we played every game under crazy pressure - you either win or you don't exist. We had a great season in Oviedo. We'd play rummy and then hug on the bus. That was something new for both of them", says Prosinečki.
What Antic did can hardly be repeated...
"I call myself a Madridista. I was in Spain for a long time, in Madrid. I know how much they value him there. Just last night I saw the great cover of Marca and that title: "We love you". Radomir deserved that. I don't know anyone other than him who managed Real, Barca and Atlético. He left behind so much. Hardly anyone from this area will surpass that. Especially because of the double crown with Atlético," says Prosinečki.
