The conflict between professional footballers and the leaders of the Premier League over demands for salary cuts has been going on for weeks, and it seems that it will be difficult to stop.
The players do not want to agree to a 30 percent lower salary, but to decide for themselves what to do with their money, and the 20-year-old Newcastle midfielder Mati Longstaff gave them the right idea.
He is the lowest paid footballer in the Premier League, he receives only 975 euros per week, but he decided to give 30 percent of that sum to humanitarian purposes.
Longstaff, more precisely, along with a large number of footballers, is part of the "Players Together" initiative, which should help Great Britain fight the coronavirus pandemic.
