An investment fund, led by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is due to complete the takeover of Newcastle from current boss Mike Ashley soon.
And with the new administration will come new managers, and "Sky Sport" claims that it will be a well-known name at "St. James' Park", Rafa Benitez.
The former coach of Liverpool, Valencia, Inter, Chelsea, Napoli and Real Madrid led the "magpies" from 2016 to 2019, and Keith Downey from "Sky Sports" gave a short answer when asked by fans whether Rafa is coming back:
"It's inevitable."
The announcement of the Spaniard's return does not please the man who also sat on the bench at Newcastle in the 2007/2008 season, Sam Allardyce, who "supports" the current manager, Steve Bruce.
- It will be very difficult for Steve, I think he will be worried when the takeover is finished. I experienced it twice, once in Blackburn and the other time in Newcastle. I wasn't Mike Ashley's man and I understand that, but Steve has to be worried about that. "I know there's a lot of talk about whether he's good enough, but he's done a very good job considering he only arrived two weeks before the start of the season," Allardyce said.
And then England's shortest-serving coach (he spent 67 days on the bench) looked back at Benitez.
- I still don't understand why Rafa Benitez seems so good. I can't wrap my head around it, because Newcastle played such negative football in his era that it's unbelievable. But that's how it is - Rafa made himself a great PR about how he ran the club at that time - pointed out Allardyce.
Benitez took over at Newcastle on March 11, 2016 and was relegated from the Premier League that season, but won the Championship the following season.
He managed the team for two seasons in the Premier League, but did not renew his contract, as Ashley said his demands were megalomaniac.
