The first of June is the date that everyone in Montenegrin football is eagerly awaiting - if everything goes well in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, it is the day when the First League should resume.
Buducnost is the leader and wants to defend the first place, Sutjeska to introduce uncertainty in the fight for the title, Iskra seems calm in the third place... And Zeta? It is not easy to define the ambitions of Golubovci, because they enter the continuation of the championship as fifth place, with seven points less than Iskra.
"Our ambitions are always the same - the best possible result and the affirmation of young people. I don't know how everything will look after the break, which was specific, longer than ever. I don't even know how we will play 13 rounds in forty days, how it will look, because we have to be on the field every three or four days. We are looking forward to being able to think about football again, but we, the coaches and the players ourselves, are facing a big challenge," said Zeta coach Dejan Roganović and added:
"We wanted to play football, but we still train individually, and while that is the case, it is impossible to prepare for the competitive level. We are all in the same problem, we are all interested in the result at the end, but first of all we have to think about the health of the players. The most important thing is to prevent injuries that could affect the next season as well," Roganović points out.
Zeta works thanks to the affirmation and sale of footballers, now the question is how much he will be able to fulfill the goals for the summer.
"We will do as much as we can, as much as we can, but we need to be especially careful with young footballers. I believe that it will be easier for the more experienced players to overcome all this, because they have a routine and a certain experience of protecting themselves from injuries. We must not push the young into the fire to play every few days after these preparations, which will be anything but in normal conditions," says Roganović.
Zeta is not giving up on going to Europe next season either.
"The date for the Cup is not yet known, and the fourth-ranked Rudar is not licensed for Europe. So I believe that we are not without chances, but let the championship continue first, and then we will make plans, because every match will be a story in itself".
The novelty is that five substitutions will be allowed during the match.
"That is good, in order to protect the players as much as possible. It will definitely be useful for teams with a larger pool of players, I am primarily referring to Buducnost, Sutjeska and Iskra, because they are teams with experience both on the field and on the bench But we're all starting from scratch, we'll all go through the same preparations until June 1, when the continuation is planned, so we'll see what and how it will look like. It will be played even without an audience, the home field will not be a special advantage, so it seems to me that we will have an interesting finish to the championship," concluded Roganović.
