22 teams will play in the second division of France next season, which means that no club will be relegated after the football season was interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The governing board of the French league made that decision, thus allowing Le Mans and Orléans to remain in the second division, while Pau and Dunkirk were promoted from the third.
In April, the French government decided to suspend the domestic football championship due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Paris Saint-Germain was declared the champion, while Toulouse and Amiens were relegated from Ligue 1.
Amiens appealed to the court for "unfair" relegation from the first division.
That club proposed that in the next season there will be 22, instead of 20, clubs in the first league.
