Hamburger's disappointing season ended in debacle.
In the last round of the Second League, the German giant lost at home to Sandhausen 5:1, which means that he will be a part of Zvajta next season as well.
Before the last round, HSV had one point less than the third-placed Heidenheim, which was in the play-off zone for filling the Bundesliga.
Heidenheim was defeated by Arminia (3:0), so a point was enough for Hamburger to take the third position... But after 20 minutes it was 0:2, and in the last 10 minutes the guests scored three more goals.
Heidenheim, a club from the south of Germany, will meet Werder in the play-off (the matches will be played on July 2 and 6), while Arminia and Stuttgart secured their place in the Bundesliga earlier.
