All three Montenegrin clubs that will play in the Europa League qualifiers this summer - Sutjeska, Iskra and Zeta - have registered the stadium under Gorica in case of eventual hosting of international matches.
Budućnost will, of course, play under Gorica, if it is the host in the first round of qualification for the Champions League, and then in one of the rounds of qualification for the Europa League.
The Sutjeska stadium near Bistrica is not in circulation this summer due to the construction of a new, western stand, Zeta's "Trešnjica" does not have a license to play European matches, while the "Braće Velašević" stadium in Danilovgrad does not meet Uefa standards, even for the preliminary round of the Europa League qualifiers, despite recent reconstruction.
Buducnost will be the first Montenegrin club to take the field - the match of the 1st qualifying round for the Champions League is scheduled for August 18 or 19, while on Thursday, August 20, Iskra and Zeta, the Montenegrin teams that will make their debut in the lowest tier this summer, will take to the field , the so-called "qualifications for the qualifications", i.e. in the preliminary round of the qualifications for the Europa League.
Sutjeska, which was 2nd in the table, won direct placement in the 1st round of qualification for the Europa League, and that round is scheduled for August 27.
Due to the major coronavirus pandemic and the delay of the European club qualifications, as well as the lack of dates, UEFA decided that this season only one match will be played in each round (except in the last, play-off phase), and the host will be determined by lot.
What, however, if all three of our clubs that start in the first UEFA term - between August 18 and 20, are designated as hosts? What if Budućnost plays in Gorica on August 18 or 19, and a day or two later Zeta and Iskra wait their turn?
Or, what if both of our representatives in the preliminary round (Iskra and Zeta) make it to the 1st round of Europa League qualification - then it is theoretically possible that Sutjeska, Iskra and Zeta will be drawn as hosts for the first round matches scheduled for August 27.
It is clear, not everyone will be able to play at the stadium under Gorica, some will have to - at the "DG Arena".
Back in March, the Football Association of Montenegro registered the stadium in Lješkopolje as an option for playing club qualifications. "DG Arena" received permission from UEFA inspectors and with minor corrections it will be available to one of our three clubs in the Europa League qualifiers.
At the "DG Arena", the construction of the western stand is underway, which will increase the total capacity of the stadium to 4.000, but even while it is being built - it is possible to play matches. On it, for example, in October last year, our young national team hosted North Macedonia.
Stadiums where European club matches will be played this summer must meet not only infrastructure, but also sanitary conditions in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Matches will be played without the presence of fans, in compliance with the medical protocol that UEFA has already drawn up and delivered to all clubs.
In addition to the City Stadiums, the stadiums in Podgorica and Nikšić (below Gorica and near Bistrica), the European club qualifiers were also played in Petrovac in previous years (Rudar were the hosts there on one occasion, as well as Lovćen, Bokelj...), but the stadium under A small hill is not a European option this summer.
In addition to the stadium under Gorica, the stadium near Bistrica with a new tribune and the fully built "DG Arena", Montenegrin clubs will also have at their disposal the "Sveti Petar Cetinjski" stadium in Cetinje, which is under construction, from one of the next summers.
Rudara Stadium in Pljevlja cannot get a permit due to the great distance from the nearest airport.
