Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini said that he is not optimistic about the performance of 32-year-old Josip Ilicic in the quarterfinals of the Champions League against PSG, which will be played on August 12 in Lisbon.
Ilicic injured his right ankle back in June, and although he appeared in several games at the beginning of July, the last time against Juventus on the 11th of this month, it was obvious that he was not at his usual level.
"We will monitor his condition day by day, but it seems to me that it will be difficult for him to be ready. We do not have anyone with his characteristics, he is fundamental for our game, currently his position is filled a little by Pašalić, a little by Malinovski, and a little by Gomes who can play everything. We are without Ilicic like Juventus without Dybala, Lazio without Immobile or Inter without Lukaku," said Gasperini.
As Atalanta will be without Ilicic in the quarterfinals, PSG will play without Kylian Mbappe, who injured his left ankle in the French Cup final five days ago.
