Warning and danger - Luxembourg is better than Cyprus.
That's what Miodrag Džudović, a coach in the professional staff of the Montenegrin national team, says after the victory at the start of the League of Nations, and before the second match, which will be played already on Tuesday.
"We have been preparing Luxembourg for a long time, we have everything, with the fact that the match with Azerbaijan will provide new information. I think they are of better quality than Cyprus. They have continuity, they have a coach who has been in that position for ten years, it is felt on the field. We are facing a difficult match," Džudović said.
Luxembourg beat Azerbaijan 2:1 away from home last night, but that result is not the only warning. Even in some defeats, the quality of the future rival can be seen.
"They want to play, they are brave, that's how they played against Portugal, Serbia... Now they have gained confidence after the victory, and they are motivated to the maximum".
Seven years ago, Montenegro won in Luxembourg 4:1, but that and the next game have absolutely no similarities. Savić, Bećiraj, Boljević and Jovović were part of our team at that match.
"Everything is different, the actors are different, the times are different," points out Džudović.
Everything may be different, but something hasn't changed for 13 years - when Stevan Jovetić is in the team, Montenegro is much better. Both when he was 18, and now at almost 31 years old, his influence on the game of our team is decisive.
"He has remained the same, as a player he has not changed. Injuries prevented him from leaving an even bigger mark in football, I hope that everything is behind him. With him in the team, we have more options, and our rivals look at us differently. He meant a lot to us always," Džudović said.
Jovetić came on at halftime against Cyprus, because he is not in a competitive rhythm. It is still too early to say what his status will be in Luxembourg...
"We will see that after tomorrow's training," Džudović said.
