The coronavirus has brought tectonic changes in the fan world - matches without an audience are a reality and a sad reality.
But all the restrictions and complications did not prevent one England fan from coming to Iceland and cheering on his national team in the Nations League match.
Chad Thomas was the only Englishman who traveled to Reykjavik for the game.
Thomas booked a £70 ticket, paid £410 for accommodation (11 nights) and agreed to self-isolate in a hotel room for five days, just so he could even be near the stadium.
In order for foreigners to be allowed to come to Iceland, they need to have a negative test done in their country, to be negative in the test that is done upon arrival, but also to be in isolation for five days.
All this was accepted by Tomas, whose isolation expired on Friday.
Yesterday, he watched from the fence as England won 1:0, with Sterling's goal from the penalty spot in the last moments of the match.
Fortunately for him, the stadium in Reykjavík is not completely closed, but, as he says, he also had that in mind, so he "reserved" a place to watch the match a long time ago...
