Political circumstances intervened in the draw of qualifying groups for the 2022 Futsal World Cup, as three national teams, whose countries do not recognize Kosovo's independence, were in the same group as Kosovo.
Spain, Greece and Georgia do not have diplomatic relations with Kosovo, so the question is how and where the matches will be played.
"We play here according to the rules of FIFA. Spain does not recognize Kosovo as an independent state, but that does not mean that Spain does not participate in competitions in which Kosovo also participates," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Aranca Gonzalez Laja.
"We will consider how the matches will be organized, but it is clear that they will be played".
At the meeting of the Executive Committee in May 2019, UEFA made a decision that countries that do not want to host the Kosovo team or clubs from Kosovo can organize a match on a neutral ground, but that they should host Kosovo.
This happened precisely to Spain, when it hosted the qualifiers for the U-17 European Championship, but did not want to play on its field with Kosovo, which was its rival in the group.
The Spaniards organized the tournament at the UEFA football complex in Nyon.
There is, therefore, a possibility that Spain, but also Greece and Georgia, will host Kosovo on neutral ground...
Sweden is also in group B.
