Swansea Football Club and its players will boycott social media for seven days following the recent racial abuse received by some footballers on those platforms.
As announced, from this afternoon and for the next seven days, the club from the Championship will not publish anything on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, YouTube, Tiktok and Snapchat.
Swansea has asked the directors of Twitter and Facebook for tougher policing and penalties for those who post racist messages.
"In the last few weeks three players from our squad have been racially abused and we as a team and a club wanted to take this stand as we once again call on those at the helm of social media companies to implement the change that is needed now and in the future," he said. is Swansea captain Matt Grimes.
Football players of the Welsh club Džamal Lov, Ben Kabango and Jan Danda have received racial insults on social networks in the past two months.
"It is astonishing that we are still talking about racism and abuse of this kind. We are aware of the pressures in football at this level, but it should not be underestimated how this level of abuse can affect someone," Grimes added.
