Legendary coach Arsene Wenger, who is now president of FIFA's Football Development Committee, said that an automatic offside system could be seen as early as the World Cup in Qatar.
"The automatic system means that the signal travels quickly to the assistant referee, who gets a red light on his watch for the player's offside position," the Frenchman said.
It is a special type of technology that is already used to determine whether the ball has crossed the goal line.
"Now too much time is spent - on average about 70 seconds to determine if he was offside. Depending on the situation, everything can take much longer. This is an important issue, because it breaks the game or eliminates even the celebration of goals "I think this will be an important step in shortening the time difference until the final decision," said the former manager of Arsenal.
The World Cup in Qatar will be held from November 21 to December 18 of the following year.
