The European Football Union (Uefa) adopted today a part of the complaint that Russia sent regarding the design of the jersey of the national team of Ukraine.
Ukraine will have to remove the second part of the inscription "Glory to Ukraine, glory to the heroes" from the jersey, because it is considered that this slogan is actually political in nature and contains a historical and militaristic context.
Russian politicians previously criticized this inscription, because they believe that this slogan was used during the Second World War by Ukrainian nationalists who fought on the side of the Nazis.
The map on which the Crimean peninsula is located will remain on the jersey of Ukraine.
Crimea was annexed by Russia in 2014.
The two national teams will only be able to meet at the upcoming European Championship if they advance to the knockout stage.
UEFA rules do not allow teams and selections from those two countries to meet each other when the draw is made.
Ukraine will play its first match at the European Championship against the Netherlands on June 13, in Amsterdam from 21.00:XNUMX.
