England suffers, Albion failed to make history and win the European Championship for the first time.
England was defeated by Italy last night after a penalty shootout, and the game was watched live from the stands of "Wembley" by the former English national team player, David Beckham.
Beckham sent a message to the national team the day after the final.
"It was a great privilege to be in the stadium and watch our team fight like real lions throughout the tournament. It was a heartbreaking result last night, but let's remember what is important. This is the best result for England in over 50 years. This is a team that showed courage and passion for our country at a time when we needed it most. An inspiring team of young men with so many positive changes off the field. There is also a great manager who leads them with integrity. They all deserve nothing less nothing but praise and respect. To Garrett and the boys... I know how much it will hurt but you have your country's pride and gratitude for what you have accomplished and you did it all the right way. Anyone who doesn't support and respect each of you today is not a fan England. Win or lose, we're with you. Keep your head up," Beckham wrote.
