The European Football Union (Uefa) initiated proceedings against the English Football Federation, due to the behavior of its fans at the final of the European Championship, Sky Sport reported today.
The final of the European Championship 2020 was played in London at Wembley.
"Following the investigation conducted by the ethics and disciplinary inspector regarding the incidents that took place at the final match, in which England fans took part, inside and around the stadium, proceedings have been initiated against the FA of England for breach of disciplinary measures," stated the UEFA statement.
English fans managed to enter the stadium without tickets. They physically assaulted Italian fans throughout the day, pelting them with rocks and pyrotechnics, and throwing solid objects onto the field.
In the final, on 11 July, Italy beat England after a better penalty shootout.
