Mornar and Petrovac are the only first league players from the sea: Barani are returning to the elite, while Petrovac only saved their place in the elite in the penalty shootout of the barrage last season. Who expected that two teams, in the 10th round of the new season, would play a derby - at least if the parameter is the position in the table.
Both teams are competing for the very top. Mornar is third, he has a chance to return to second place, while Petrovac shares the fourth position with Rudar.
They already met once this season, in the 1st round, and Mornar won 1:0 in Petrovac. Although the second of four rounds has just started, today's clash at "Topolica" could show who is ready to fight for a place in Europe.
"The matches between Mornar and Petrovac always brought uncertainty, but after the defeat against Sutjeska we want to make a reaction now - said the captain of Mornar, Jovan Pajović.
Slavoljub Bubanja's team slowed down a bit after a good start, and suffered three defeats in the last four matches.
"We had good support from the audience against Sutjeska, I hope it will be the same now and that the result will be different", Pajović added.
And the good run of Petrovac was interrupted last Sunday, with a defeat against the champions of the Future (3:2 under Mali Brdo).
"We are satisfied with the performance so far, and we are not surprised, because the team was made to place in the upper part of the table and expectations are high. This is a neighborhood derby, it always brings more motivation, and we want to go to the championship break with a good result", said Ljubomir Đurović, the goalkeeper of Petrovac.
Today's matches of the 10th round also bring a collision between the penultimate and the first - Podgorica hosts the leader, the Sutjeska team, at the "DG Arena".
"We finished one round with an extraordinary result of seven wins and two draws, so we enter the next cycle with much more confidence and strength than we had at the start," says Sutjeska coach Milija Savović.
Podgorica, under its third coach this season, Nenad Vukčević, is still looking for its first victory.
