The world football organization FIFA appealed to football players around the world to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.
"We encourage vaccination against covid-19 and support the position of the World Health Organization (WHO) - safe, fair and just access to the vaccine is decisive in all countries. "Football players should not have priority access to the vaccine," FIFA said in a statement.
The appeal was issued by FIFA regarding the British government's decision that fully immunized footballers do not have to go into hotel quarantine after returning from the upcoming World Cup qualification matches, even though the match was played in countries that are on the so-called "red list".
FIFA has welcomed the decision of the British government and indicates that it participated actively in finding a solution, which, they say, is in everyone's interest.
FIFA is convinced that this is a positive step in the "right direction".
