Although he spent four years in one of the northernmost inhabited territories in Europe, for Montenegrin attacker Boris Došljak, Bordeaux (and the city of Klaksvik) was a paradise island.
Two championship titles of the Faroe Islands and the won Super Cup of that country are trophies that will be indelibly written in the biography of the left winger from Zabjelo.
Klaksvik won the 19th title of champion of the Faroe Islands, and that in a record way, four rounds before the end, and the only defeat was in the penultimate round against the second-placed HB Toršavn, the team that demolished Budućnost in the European qualifiers.
"We really had an incredible streak from the first game, and we celebrated with a four, five, six goal difference. In the end, the goal difference says it all - 99:12. With the trophy, I rounded off the last, fourth year of my contract in one of the most colorful clubs in the country , and in a way made up for not winning trophies in Montenegro, Poland and Serbia. In the Faroe Islands, I won the title already in my second year and the unforgettable 18th title that I had been waiting for for exactly 20 years. The celebration was unforgettable and I just at the end of that season, I realized how much people actually love football here. More precisely, they live for football. In the match that decided the champion away from B36, there were as many as 4.000 of our fans. And Klaksvik has a population of 4.500. After all, in a stadium with 2.600 seats, never not less than 1.500 spectators," the 32-year-old forward Došljak told "Vijesti".
Football in the Faroe Islands used to be looked down upon, even in Montenegro, but since the B36 team eliminated OFK Titograd in the European Cups, since their young national team beat ours, since HB Toršavn scored six goals for Budućnost in two matches - that league must to be respected.
Došljak's contract with the champions has expired, but he plans to stay in the Faroe Islands.
"I finished with Klaksvík, but I have offers from as many as five Faroese clubs and I will consider with my family which one suits us best. Apart from the incredibly high food prices, the Faroe Islands offer perfect living conditions, and climatically, the last year has been quite tolerable. About other aspects it is unnecessary to talk, because the club provides a house, a car for the family, fuel... There is plenty of content for the children, and the salaries are solid and the players are respected as much as possible. I almost forgot what it looks like when there is no pay at all for hard work and sacrifices , which are ugly memories of our club football. And in general, in the Faroe Islands, more attention is paid and world standards are adopted than here, so nobody should be surprised by the defeats of OFK Titograd against B36, or Buducnost against Toršavn".
Where did such a football boom come from in such a small country without a football tradition?
"Because of their great professionalism and hard work, they are strong, combative, and physically they are without a doubt maximally prepared in every game. They lacked tradition, self-confidence and entered the games with a cramp, or more precisely, fear of a huge defeat. That's why I advised the players of OFK Titograd and The futures that in the matches against them they don't let the Farans understand that they can play with them for a moment. They didn't do that and the epilogue is known. There is not a second lost here, work in training and maximum commitment are self-evident. Technically they are not at the level of ours players, but in their league there is no waiting and the game is played as hard as possible," concluded Došljak.
Without wasting a second working in the Faroe Islands
In the championship, but the last season in Klaksvik, Boris Došljak scored three goals with four assists, and he scored three more goals for the second team of his club, for which the players who did not play on the weekend in the A team perform on Mondays.
The newcomer arrived in Klasvik from Iskra.
"I had an excellent half-season in Iskra, and Klaksvik was the most trophy-winning club, although in decline until Mitchell Tomason took over. A great professional and the most talented coach in the country, he does not waste a second in his work. Semir Hadžibulić from Novi Pazar played for him , who recommended me because the team needed a left winger. Deni Pavlović, former defender of Zeta, also came, but we played in different periods at "Trešnjica" and did not know each other. We were roommates for a year, until my family joined me ", says Došljak.
