Completed European qualifications: It is known who will go to Qatar, and who must go to the playoffs

The group competition in the European qualification zone for the World Cup in Qatar ended tonight.

It is known which 10 selections qualified directly for the World Cup, and which 12 will fight for the remaining three places in the March playoffs.

Germany, Denmark, France, Belgium, Croatia, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, England and the Netherlands have directly qualified for the World Cup and are awaiting the draw for the group stage, which is scheduled for April 1 next year.

Italy, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Czech Republic, Poland, Sweden, Wales, Turkey, Ukraine, Austria and North Macedonia will play in the playoffs.

Austria and the Czech Republic qualified for the playoffs as winners of their respective groups in the Nations League.

Twelve selections will play the semifinals and finals through three semi-final tournaments, and the winners of those tournaments will go to Qatar. Such was the situation during the play-offs for the previous European Championship.

The draw for the play-offs is on November 26 in Zurich. Six teams are seeded and will be hosts in the semi-finals of the playoffs, while the remaining six will be among the disadvantaged teams. The seeds cannot meet in the semi-finals, but they can in the eventual finals.

Italy, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Sweden and Wales are privileged, while the Czech Republic, Austria, North Macedonia, Turkey, Poland and Ukraine are disadvantaged in the play-off.

This means that Italy and Portugal cannot play each other in the semi-finals, because they are favored, but they can in the eventual final, if they are drawn together.

The World Cup in Qatar is from November 21 to December 18.
