The Red Ladies are looking for their third win

The women's football team of Montenegro is visiting Malta today (19 p.m.) in the fifth round of World Cup qualifiers and wants to record its third victory.

As strange as it sounds - the selection that until recently had 26 straight defeats in the qualifiers for major competitions is playing today for the ninth point, out of a possible 15.

However, women's football in Montenegro has experienced great progress recently, and the victories over Bosnia and Herzegovina away (3:2) and Azerbaijan at home (2:0) did not come by chance.

This is how, step by step, a situation has arisen where our national team is the favorite in one away match. At least that's what captain Slađana Bulatović, soccer player of Spanish Rajo Valjekan, announces.

"We enter the match as favorites, considering how well we played in the previous matches and that we achieved two victories. We want the best possible result, we are in a good moment, both physically and mentally, we have the right to hope for the best", said Bulatović.

Mirko Marić's team draws their optimism from the fact that in June they beat Malta away from home in a friendly match - 2:1. In the second match, the Maltese team won 1:0, but our soccer players achieved their greatest triumphs and gained confidence only after that.

"We are in a rush, I expect a favorable result", says coach Marić.

Malta has two points less than Montenegro - a total of four, which the hosts collected with a draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina (1:1) and an away triumph against Azerbaijan (2:1).

Both Montenegro and Malta, clearly, experienced defeats in clashes with Denmark and Russia, the strongest selections in the group.

"We know that a very difficult match awaits us in Malta, there are teams of equal quality. I believe in the team, the girls are ready," said Marić.
