The Portuguese police announced today that they arrested 54 fans of Dynamo Kyiv for rioting and fighting with Benfica fans in Lisbon, ahead of the match between the two football clubs in the Champions League.
The riots took place on Wednesday evening, and the police said that one police officer and 13 fans were injured.
"Certain behavior indicates that the fight between the two groups was organized," the announcement states.
Rioters threw smoke bombs at the police and pelted them with stones and bottles, and the police fired a warning shot.
Benfica beat Dinamo 2:0 last night and qualified for the knockout phase of the Champions League. Dinamo ended their participation in European competitions after winning only one point in Group E.
