The Football Association of Austria denied today a meeting with the temporary coach of Manchester United, Ralf Rangnik, regarding the job of the national team coach.
Austrian media reported that the sports director of the Association Peter Šetel arrived in Manchester on Monday to talk with Rangnik, but the Association denied this.
"Clarification: There was no meeting between sporting director Peter Štetel and Ralf Rangnik, coach of Manchester United," the association said on social media, Sky reported.
The position of coach of Austria is vacant after Franco Foda was fired after losing to Wales 1:2 in the semi-final play-off for the World Cup.
Rangnik, a former coach of Hoffenheim and Leipzig, replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the United bench in November and will lead the team until the end of the season.
He failed to improve the game and the results, United is seventh in the Premier League table and was eliminated in the round of XNUMX of the Champions League.
Rangnik should start a two-year consultant job at Manchester United in the summer.
