Romelu Lukaku wants to return to Inter, but first he has to agree to a lower salary, Italian media write today.
Lukaku has reportedly spoken to Inter officials and some former teammates and made it clear that he wants to return.
However, if the transfer happens, the attacker has to give up a large sum of money. He earns around 14 million a year at Chelsea, while Inter can offer him a maximum of 6,5.
The Belgian representative moved from Inter to Chelsea last summer, signed a contract until 2026, but played the entire season below par.
Lukaku was in the spotlight in December last year when he said in an interview that he was not happy in London, and that he hoped to return to Inter one day.
That interview stirred up the atmosphere at Stamford, so the striker was out of the team for a while.
Lukaku played 39 matches for Chelsea this season and scored 12 goals. He is still without a goal in the Premier League in 2022.
