With everything that comes with a fan celebration - songs, torches, fireworks and a roll call on the Pine waterfront in Tivat, Arsenal winger Boris Došljak celebrated his 33rd birthday. Just a few hours earlier, Arsenal were promoted to the domestic football elite for the first time. The team from Tiv was better than Podgorica in the second leg of the playoff, and after a convincing 4:0 on their home field, on Friday they drew in the second leg at the "DG Arena" (1:1).
Arsenal finished the season in the Second Football League in 2nd place, behind Jedinstvo, which won direct placement in Telekom 1. CFL.
- I am extremely happy, this was a great year for the club and me personally. We are impressed by the celebration, the reception. We left by bus from Kotor, with greetings, and we were given a magnificent welcome and celebration on the Pine waterfront. The roll call was especially nice. Arsenal is in the first league for the first time in the club's history, it is moving in an excellent direction and I am happy to be a part of that great project - said Došljak.
After winning the title in November in the Faroe Islands with Klaksvik, in the half-season of Montenegrin football, he decided that in the competition of several offers to extend his stay in the north of Europe, he still preferred Arsenal.
- It was because of the family's wish, they had enough of five cold years, and it turned out that I made the best possible decision and had a year to remember. It is true that Arsenal signed some good signings in the mid-season and two goals were set. To overtake Unity, but we failed. It proved to be an extremely high-quality and good team, and we congratulate it on the first place and placement, but that's why our second goal is much more important - to be a member of the domestic elite.
Došljak does not hide:
"We were afraid of a play-off, we had a quality first division opponent as our rival, but it turned out that the fear was unfounded. In the first game, we should have celebrated even more convincingly, and then we knew that the goal had been achieved. For us, the second leg was a formality, so even though they took the lead, they failed to put pressure on us and after we equalized, we had several chances to win the match - said the scorer of eight goals in the spring part of the Second League.
And the First League requires more serious work and investments, they are aware in Tivat. Especially Došljak, for whom Arsenal is the sixth club in Montenegro, after Zabjel, Zeta, Iskra, Lovcen and Bokelje.
- I will stay at Arsenal in the next season as well. I agreed on a half-season plus a year, with the fact that we will sit down on Tuesday due to the corrections foreseen in the contract for the next season. The coaching staff remains with Radisava Dragićević at the helm, but Arsenal needs five or six reinforcements to compete in the First League. I have no doubt that soon the team will be completely complete because it is planned and done seriously. The goal is for Tivat to become a real football center, and in the next few days, work will begin on the construction of the "Park" stadium, and work is also being done with the younger teams.
The fight through the barrage did not leave much rest for the Arsenal players.
- The championship starts on July 23, so we will have 7 to 10 days of rest, and then preparations will follow. We know that we will play at the Grblja stadium in domestic first league matches by November at the latest, and then at our stadium - concluded Došljak.
