Another transfer soap opera is over, and Barcelona once again beat Chelsea in the race to sign a player this summer - Gilles Kunde is the new player of "Blaugrana", it was confirmed by the Spanish club.
The recent Sevilla player landed in Barcelona around 17 pm today, and official information appeared on the club's website soon after. Kunde will undergo medical examinations tomorrow and sign a five-year contract. Although the club did not announce it, the numbers are also known - Barcelona will pay Sevilla 50 million euros fixed and 10 in bonuses, while the French stopper will earn six million euros annually.
Ćavi played the most important role in the realization of this transfer. He was looking for a stopper, Kunde was the first pick, and when the Barca coach had a conversation with the player, there was no more dilemma.
Kunde, just like Rafinha who arrived at Barça earlier, rejected Chelsea's offer. Sevilla had an agreement with the London club, could earn five million euros more, but the player's desire to wear the shirt of the Catalan team decided. Kunde put pressure on Sevilla's management, made it clear that he was only interested in Barcelona and the Andalusian team could do nothing more. In the meantime, the player has been training with the first team of Sevilla and will join Barcelona when the team returns from the American tour.
Kunde grew up in Bordeaux, from where he came to Seville three years ago. He played 85 matches in La Liga, scored five goals and was one of the team's leaders.
Barcelona exceeded 150 million in signings this summer. Robert Lewandowski was paid 50 million to Bayern, and Rafinha was paid eight million more to Leeds. Andreas Kristensen and Frank Kesi arrived after the expiration of their contracts with Chelsea and Milan, respectively.
