The second Montenegrin league will start today, three weeks after the start of the Meridianbet 1st CFL.
Two teams are making their debut in the second league competition - Zeta, the first Montenegrin champion, until this year a standard member of the elite, as well as the team from Nikšić, which secured the second league status for the first time as one of the two best teams from the three regions, along with Otrant-Olimpik from Ulcinj.
Zeta, at least for now, is not a strong favorite to return to the First League. The team from "Trešnjica" starts the second league competition with a significantly rejuvenated team, only a few players who played last season, and a new coach - Dragoljub Đuretić was succeeded on the bench by Dejan Batrović, a former footballer of Zeta.
Bokelj, with Milorad Malovrazić on the bench, will try to do what he failed to do last season - to at least reach the playoffs. The people of Kotor are definitely in the narrowest circle of favorites.
OFK Mladost DG and Podgorica, a duo from the "DG arena", teams that have a lot of similar (but different) things will perform in the same rank. It remains to be seen whether they will have the same ambitions... Mladost reached the playoffs last season, and recently signed a contract with FK Budućnost, which will send young players to compete...
Berane, a club in which foreign capital entered ("Niagara sports company", led by the famous Croatian manager Andy Bara), should not be excluded from the race for the top, but neither should Igalo, on whose bench sits Ivan Brnović.
Today, in the 1st round, Igalo - Nikšić, Otrant-Olympic - Podgorica, OFK Mladost DG - Zeta, Kom - Bokelj, Berane - Grbalj meet. The matches start at 17:XNUMX.
