The whole of Montenegro should be proud of its football players, said Marko Vešović, one of the best in our team in tonight's defeat against Denmark (1:0), in the World Cup qualifiers.
"The result is not a heavy defeat, but in terms of what it could have brought us - it certainly is. We are a little disappointed and sad after everything, after the whole cycle. There is one more game left, but this team showed much, much more than they many expected," said the Rijeka footballer.
"The whole of Montenegro should be proud of us. We matched everyone well, even stronger than us, we restored faith in the national team, the stadiums were full, more tickets were demanded, we collected a lot of points. I'm sorry that in the decisive match we had such a handicap that Jovetić was injured in the 20th minute, but we will move on, congratulations to the boys, we have nothing to complain about."
After the match with Poland, which is on Sunday, and which Vešović will also miss due to a card, Montenegro is waiting for the next cycle of qualifications.
"This is a generation that has the prospect of making another, additional step forward in the next cycle," Vešović said.
