The women's national football team of Montenegro is playing a match today from 18:XNUMX, after which it could celebrate a historic success - placing in the playoffs for the World Cup.
Before the duel with Malta at the FSCG camp at Stari aerodrome, Mirko Marić's team does not depend on itself because Bosnia and Herzegovina has a point more, but it would be said that its chances are not unrealistic.
BiH, namely, is going to play against Azerbaijan, so for our selection, a triumph over Malta, along with the failure of Bosnia and Herzegovina (if they don't celebrate), would also mean that they are going to the playoffs for the World Cup.
- First of all, we have to concentrate on our game, I stressed that to the girls. We cannot think about the game in Azerbaijan. I repeat what I said before - it would be nice to end this story the way we started it - with a victory - said Marić and continued:
- We started with a triumph over BiH, it would be great to round everything off by winning three points against Malta, and that won't be easy at all - Marić pointed out.
Montenegro recorded three victories in the qualifiers, and won 2:0 against Malta in the first game. She also defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina and Azerbaijan.
In the first match with the Maltese women, however, she was in the strongest lineup - with Slađana Bulatović and Armisa Kuč, whom Marić cannot count on in the final matches. Anđela Tošković and Nađa Stanović will also be missing.
On Thursday, our selection lost to the favorites Denmark, it was 5:1, but despite the convincing defeat, Marić had reason to be satisfied.
- Maybe it sounds strange after 5:1, but we played the game correctly and that gives us hope that we can beat Malta. At the beginning of the qualifiers, I said that we, Malta and Azerbaijan are teams of equal quality, and the results showed that. However, we must not forget that we were the only ones to give Denmark two goals, one each in both matches. It shows that we have something to say in the attack, and we need that in the next match - Marić stressed.
