In the distant and football-unknown and unexplored Singapore, the Montenegrin striker shines.
Boris Kopitović is the league's top scorer with an incredible performance of 29 goals in 24 matches, playing for Tampines Rovers.
Kopitović (27), who scored goals for Petrovac, OFK Titograd and Kom in the CFL, also recorded 11 assists.
In January 2020, he moved from Petrovac to Singapore and is playing his third season for one of the most popular clubs in one of the most economically developed countries in the world, where the sports media call him "Bad Boy Boris".
Kopitović's goal-scoring performance has been noticed in the world as well.
Football statisticians calculated that only four footballers on the planet scored more goals than the Montenegrin forward in 2022.
Kylian Mbappe, the star of PSG, scored the most goals in 2022 - 36 in 33 matches, followed by Argentine Herman Cano from Brazilian Fluminense - 33 in 57, and another superstar Robert Lewandowski (Bayern/Barcelona) - 31 in the same number of matches.
And fourth on the list is the ultra-goal-getter, Erling Haaland (Borussia D/Manchester S) with 30 goals in 28 matches.
The same number of goals as Kopitović in 2022 has the Brazilian Bergson from Malaysian Dorsun (23 matches), Karim Benzema, Real's ace (32 matches) and Aleksandar Mitrović, Fulham striker (35 matches).
Although the Singaporean league cannot, nor is it intended to, be compared with the strongest European leagues, Kopitović's score and the company he is in are impressive.
Kopitović scored a total of 35 goals in the CFL.
