The Spanish prosecutor's office withdrew today all charges of corruption and fraud against the Brazilian football player Neymar, at the trial being held in Barcelona due to alleged malfeasance during his transfer from Santos to Barcelona in 2013.
The prosecutor announced "withdrawal of charges against all defendants and for all cases".
The prosecution initially demanded two years in prison and a fine of 10 million euros for the Paris Saint-Germain forward.
In this case, in addition to the 30-year-old footballer, his parents, two former presidents of Barcelona, Sandro Rosel and Josep Maria Bartomeu, as well as the former president of Santos, Odilio Rodríguez Filho, were accused.
The procedure was initiated in 2015 by the Brazilian investment company DIS, which was the holder of 40 percent of the rights to that player.
Santos received 17,1 million euros for the transfer, and 6,8 million euros were paid to that company. They started the court process with the claim that Barcelona, Neymar and Santos conspired to conceal the real amount of the transfer.
Barcelona estimated the transfer of the Brazilian player at a total of 57,1 million euros.
Neymar moved from Barcelona to PSG in 2017.
