About 42 percent of French people and 23 percent of fans will boycott the World Cup, the French sports newspaper L'Equipe reported today the results of a survey conducted a few days before the start of the competition.
According to that survey, more than 50 percent of the French are dissatisfied with Qatar hosting the WC, of which 42 percent will not watch the games, and 23 percent of fans said they will boycott the championship.
Among the fans who announced a boycott, 19 percent of them said that they would be tempted to watch the French national team if they progressed well during the championship.
In the competition, France is defending the title of world champion won at the championship in Russia in 2018.
At the World Cup, which starts on Sunday, France will play in Group D with Denmark, Australia and Tunisia.
