From the ambition to attack the placement on the European stage for the first time in the club's history, to the fight to avoid the break halfway through the championship in the last place of the Meridianbet 1st CFL. That's how the fall half-season went for Mornar, who ended the football season with a victory over Dečić and left the "lantern" to Iskra.
The scorer of the only goal in the 19th round at the "DG Arena", where Mornar against Dečič brought down the curtain on first league football until the last week in February, was Marko Ćetković, whose team left last place to Iskra.
"It was extremely important for us not to be the last, because the team is made up of footballers with great careers - and they found themselves in such a position. And I really don't understand how, because we were outplayed only by Jedinstvo in both matches, and we won points against Sutjeska, Dečič, Petrovac... Before the game, the professional staff clearly told us: 'You will not allow yourself to be last'. And that motivated us," said Ćetković.
After last year's solid season, Barani announced high goals in this one, but the reality is different.
"We didn't use the opportunities. For example, we were never outplayed by Dečić, but in our biggest bursts we would concede a goal. Now that has changed, but it is also obvious that we have quite weaned ourselves from the way of playing in Montenegro. Ever since the league was formed, and I was the first champion with Zeta, the game has been the same - little pace, too many interruptions. Even with every out, people complain as if it could lead to a chance and a goal that would turn everything around. There is little pace, it is insisted that every contact be judged, time is wasted... Our team is mainly composed of players who are looking for play, actions, pace...", Ćetković believes.
Trophies with Zeta, Mogren, Sutjeska, performances in Partizan, Budućnost, and performances in Poland, Thailand, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, made Ćetković gain enormous experience.
"In Mornar, I mostly play as a right winger, although I was mostly in the position behind the point guard. That's when you have to, and Mornar has to because he's in an unenviable position in the standings. Direct survival is only three points away from us, we have to prepare for the fight in the spring", concluded Ćetković.
