There was a fiery atmosphere in the square, when the players and coach Dešan appeared on the balcony of the Krijon Hotel.
The national team greeted the crowd, which waved French flags and shouted "Thank you, Blues".
The French national team arrived in Paris from Doha two hours earlier.
France captain Hugo Lloris was delighted with the support of the fans, despite the defeat in the final.
"This is an opportunity to greet the fans and thank them for their support despite the defeat in the final. After the pain we experienced yesterday, we came to seek comfort from them," Lloris told French TV channel TF1.
"Despite the circumstances and many things that happened before and during the tournament, we remained united and showed the strength of the group. I think the French recognized themselves through these values. We have to continue working and welcome the next Euro as best as possible," Ljoris added.
French striker Olivier Giroud said that "these moments should be lived as if they were the last in life and enjoy them".
"We'll hug each other and go on vacation to recharge our batteries. It's hard to part with these guys, because we've spent the last month and a half as a family," Giroud said.
