San Marino is the smallest European country in terms of population, and along with Gibraltar, it is also the smallest member of UEFA.
It also officially has the weakest national football team in the world, which considering the population of 33.000 inhabitants and the firm policy of "not granting" sports citizenships is not a surprise.
But it is trying to further build the cult of the national team, so the FS of that country has decided that every newborn in San Marino will receive a free jersey of the national team until the end of 2023.
And in this way, the micro-state hopes to introduce new generations to the most popular sport in the world.
Since 1990, San Marino has been competing in international football, but is still waiting for its first victory in the World Cup or European Championship qualifiers.
The only victory was achieved in 2004 in a friendly match against Liechtenstein 1:00.
The national team has only a few semi-professional players, while the rest are amateurs.
Currently, San Marino is in the last, 211th place in the FIFA ranking.
