Paris Saint-Germain footballer Kylian Mbappe said he will never be able to digest France's World Cup final defeat to Argentina after penalties.
"I don't think I'll ever digest it," Mbappe told reporters after the match against Strasbourg.
Paris Saint-Germain beat Strasbourg 2:1 last night, and Mbappe scored the winning goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time from the penalty spot.
He played with France in the final of the recently concluded World Cup, in which his team failed to defend the title, as they lost to Argentina after penalty kicks with 2:4, after the regular part and extra time it was 3:3.
Mbappe returned to the club and training with his teammates earlier than expected.
"It's a good feeling to come back to win, to connect with the club, the fans, my teammates. I spoke to the coach before the final and I told him that, regardless of the result, I will come back after the tournament, as I felt good and wanted to continue playing , since we have two important games," said the top scorer of the World Cup in Qatar.
Asked about the manner in which Argentina's footballers rejoiced after winning the title, Mbappe dismissed the problems.
"Celebrations are not my problem, I don't waste my energy on such trivial things, the most important thing for me is to give the best for my club. We will wait for Messi to come back and continue to score goals and win games," said Mbappe about his teammate.
"We talked after the game, I congratulated him. It was his life's quest, also for me, but I didn't succeed, so you always have to remain a good footballer," added Mbappe.
