French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has announced the end of his national team career.
The experienced goalkeeper of Tottenham turned 36 in December.
"There comes a time when you have to know how to hand over the keys to someone else. I've always said that the French team doesn't belong to anyone and that we all have to know that," said Lloris in an interview with L'Ekip.
"I think France is in good hands. They have a great goalkeeper, Mike Magnan," added Lloris.
He played a record 145 matches for the "tricolor" from 2008 to the present day, and was the captain in a total of 121.
With France, he participated in the 2012, 2016 and 2020 European Championships, as well as the 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
He became the world champion in Russia in 2018, recently he lost to Argentina in the final in Qatar.
