Tonight's clash between the two biggest Montenegrin clubs will not decide the champion, there will be 13 rounds left, no one will gain a big point advantage (Sutjeska now has two points and a game more), but it could be a psychological one. The third duel between Budućnost and Sutjeska this season could at least reveal who is the main favorite for the title - the guest, the current champion, or the host, the "challenger".
DŽUDOVIĆ: WINNING, SUTJESKA IS BETTER THAN AUTUMN
Budućnost did not have a series of five consecutive victories against Sutjeska even when, in the first few seasons after gaining independence, it had a significantly better team than Sutjeska.
That series started last season, under Aleksandar Nedović, and Miodrag Džudović continued this autumn with two triumphs - 2:0 at home, 1:0 away.
- The previous two games were equal, especially the first one when we practically 'divided' the half, but we managed better. The derby is unpredictable, and that's how we treat ourselves and how we prepare - Džudović is careful.
Nevertheless, a series that is not negligible, plus the home field - Buducnost wants to win.
"We are playing on our home field, in front of our fans, and I expect a good game and a positive result. Of course, the motive is great, and always when we play with Sutjeska, the players are impatient, just like us", said the head of the coaching staff of Podgorica.
His team did not play on Tuesday (the match with Rudar was postponed), they had more time to rest than Sutjeska, which played with Iskra (2:1). In our league, where the pace is much slower than the European average, this is not negligible either.
"We had a lot of time to prepare for the derby, and we will treat this match like any other. I think that Sutjeska is even better balanced than it was in the first part of the season, I expect first of all a good football atmosphere, then a good game and finally our victory", said Džudović.
BRNOVIĆ: THERE ARE NO SECRETS, THE PLAYERS HAVE TO ENJOY, THEY HAVEN'T DECIDED YET
Sutjeska coach Nenad Brnović wants to relieve his players, who did not score a goal in 180 minutes this season against Budućnost - according to him, the players should enjoy the derby, which does not (yet) decide the title.
"There is no need for special preparation for this match. Players should enjoy themselves. We ask that they give the maximum for the club and the fans. We are aware of the qualities and flaws of Buducnost. We know each other very well. Neither I can surprise Džudović, nor can he surprise me. The inspiration of an individual can decide the match. We will try to impose our rhythm and I hope we will succeed in that. It would be good if we win, but I don't think this match will decide much. We are aware that after the derby there are still 13 games and 39 points in circulation," said Brnović.
In the first three spring matches, Sutjeska conceded six goals - too many, it seems, despite the murderous attack (eight goals).
"We have to play harder, safer, to reduce the number of mistakes. I think the defense worked better against Iskra," Brnović added.
Striker Božo Marković brought a lot of joy to Sutjeska fans in previous seasons in matches against Budućnost.
"I go into every match with maximum motivation, regardless of which match it is. I give one hundred percent for Sutjeska", said Marković.
Captain Vladan Giljen believes that the negative streak against Budućnost should not worry the team.
"And they also previously went nine games without a win against us. So it doesn't mean anything. The game will not decide the championship. It won't be easy, but we're going for the win. I am confident in the team," said Giljen.
A BOY UNDER THE IMPERATIVE, BUT HE'S ALSO A MINER
Of the other matches, the duel between Dečić and Rudar, at the stadium of OFK Titograd, stands out - Tuzani are under great pressure due to three defeats at the start of the spring, four in a row including autumn, but Pljevlja, who are last in the table, are also under pressure.
"We want to get out of the crisis we are in with a win and get back on the winning track. We respect Rudar, but for us this match is everything - we want three points", is the message of Dečić defender Danilo Pešukić.
