Srđan Radonjić: Deli united us, 200 percent for him

Counting only the last five matches, one from the last round of the first part of the season and four from the continuation, the best performance in the Montenegrin football championship has the team that met the end of autumn as a candidate for relegation.

Mornar went into the break with a victory over Dečić, and at the start of the spring he won ten points out of a possible 12. And now he is four steps away from the third place, and nine away from the last position.

- We haven't done anything yet. We are on a seesaw, close to the danger zone, and close to the European scene. And we will be on the seesaw until the end, because that is the league, even. That's why - match by match, point by point - said Srđan Radonjić, assistant coach of Baran.

The introduction to the second part of the championship was shocking, after the head of the coaching staff Andrija Delibašić had serious health problems.

- It was a real "blow" for everyone, especially for me, who was with him for 24 hours. We are longtime friends, not just colleagues. The players were also affected by the whole situation, but as if it united us, as if it gave us an additional impulse and motive - said Radonjić.

Fortunately, the famous former football player is recovering, he is with the team...

- We are in the story together, but I have taken on more responsibilities, because the most important thing is for Deli to reduce stress, to take care of himself, and I will give 200 percent for him and for him. That's how the guys think too, thank you for that. Also, it turned out that this is one part of my coaching maturation, and that in this way I felt the heat of the first league competition - pointed out Radonjić.

Mornar also had a fairly active transition period, there were a lot of changes in the composition.

- There were a lot of departures, but we managed to "jump" the team. We knew that some footballers can do much better than they showed in the first part of the championship - said Radonjić.

The somewhat unexpected arrival of Fatos Bećiraj was a "premium". He scored two goals for six points, both in "90 plus" - against Sutjeska by 3:2 (from 0:2) and Jedinstva by 1:0.

- After leaving Dečić, he had offers from abroad, and he wanted to stay in Montenegro for the sake of his family. We knew what he would bring to us, both as a player and as a person. Apart from the goals, he brought us a strong influence in the dressing room - says Radonjić.

A very important part in Mornar's story is the support that the coaching staff had in moments of crisis.

- Probably, in our other club, the coaches would have been fired, but the people who run Mornar, president Mićo Perović and sports director Mitar Novaković, believed in us. Actually, in the first part of the championship, we played better than the results indicated, we didn't have competitive spirit and attitude. And we wanted to change that during the break. We also give space to young people, we also perform with three bonus footballers - Ljutica (17 years old), Vukotić (18) and Cvijović (20) - concluded Radonjić.
