"Vojvode": Our chanting has nothing to do with genocides, parties are trying to score cheap political points

The "Vojvode" fan group announced that their chanting ahead of last night's match in Podgorica has nothing to do with genocide and name-calling of minority peoples, and assessed that political parties are trying to score cheap political points through them before the parliamentary elections.

"Sutjeska" fans chanted "Knife, wire, Podgorica" ​​near the stadium in the capital last night, ahead of the Cup final match between "Sutjeska" and "Arsenal" from Tivat, which caused numerous reactions from parties and non-governmental organizations.

"The "Vojvode Nikšić" fan group has never been, nor will it be, a part of political structures and parties since its foundation, "Vojvode" said on Facebook.

As they said, their only party and ideal that has guided them for years is the city of Nikšić and the football club "Sutjeska", around which they have been gathered for years and which will have unconditional support as long as they exist.

"It's very strange that ten days before the elections in Montenegro, all political parties and entities come forward and try to score cheap political points through our name," the announcement states.

"Vojvode" stated that political entities have poisoned society so much that they are trying to make political campaigns through "Sutjeska" fans.

"We hereby deny that our chanting has anything to do with any genocides, name-calling of minority peoples, calling and inciting something similar," said "Vojvode".

They emphasized that they themselves are a multi-ethnic group.

"So don't try to make us something we're not," the "Dukes" said.

They stated that there was never and should be no politics at their stand.

As they added, this is what makes them true brothers and comrades, something they have been proud of as a group for years.

"Like some previous ones, this announcement is addressed to quasi-journalists, political hypocrites, quasi-portals and domestic spies who have been trying to present "Sutjeska" fans as the worst in our society for years," stated "Vojvode".

They added that they do not remember that there was so much noise about their humanitarian actions.
