Slovakian footballer Marek Hamšik announced today that he will end his professional career at the end of the season.
"It was not an easy decision... it was a wonderful adventure," said the former Napoli player, now a member of Turkey's Trabzonspor.
Hamšik (35), known for his "Mohican" hairstyle, ended his national team career last year after 15 years of playing in the Slovak national team, where he was the captain and top scorer.
He played 136 games for the national team and scored 26 goals, and he achieved his greatest success in 2010, when he reached the round of XNUMX of the World Cup in South Africa.
During his career, the midfielder played for Slovan Bratislava, Brescia, and then played for Napoli from 2007 to 2019.
For the current champions of Italy, he played a record 520 games in all competitions and won two titles in the Cup there.
He came to Trabzonspor in June 2021 and last season won the championship of Turkey, the first after 38 years for that Black Sea club.
There are two more rounds left until the end of the Turkish championship, and the last one is scheduled for June 6 and 7.
