The guy who first shook the net of the "falcon": I remember the naked, but also beautiful country where we visited

It was a rainy day that will always have a special place in the history of Montenegrin football - on March 24, 2007, the packed stadium near Gorica had the opportunity to cheer for Montenegro and the "brave falcons" for the first time.

However, the much-awaited first duel in the history of our football team against Hungary did not start as expected - while many were still under the impression of the singing of the national anthem and the fact that Montenegro appeared on the football map, a guy named Tamas Priškin shook after only 30 seconds is the selection network that was then led by Zoran Filipović.

"Of course I clearly remember that goal. The game lasted thirty seconds, we got a free kick after which I ran away from my keeper, shot and scored," recalled Prishkin for "Nemzeti Sport", the man who will be remembered as the first to shake network of Montenegro.

Nemzeti sport reminds that at that time the goalkeeper of Montenegro was - well known to Hungarians - Vukašin Poleksić, and that the star of the team was Mirko Vučinić, who equalized 1:1 from the penalty spot, and that Igor Burzanović, also from white dots.

"As I said, I remember the goal, but also the fact that we lost in the end - and that's what I remember most. Many years have passed since then, but I won't forget what a beautiful country we visited. The match was played in Podgorica, but we also visited Budva - I really liked that area," says Priškin.

He returned once more to the 2007 match.

"It was never easy for us against the teams from the former Yugoslavia - the Serbs, Croats and Montenegrins are all fighting, but at the same time technically strong teams," says Priškin.

Montenegro and Hungary will meet again on Saturday at the same place - now in the qualifiers for the 2024 European Championship.

"Everything I said about the selections from the former Yugoslavia is still valid now, but I have a lot of faith in our national team and I think Marco Rossi's boys are capable of bringing all three points," concluded Priškin.

This striker played 63 games for Hungary (the match against Montenegro was only his sixth), and scored 17 goals.
