The cup in the hands of Manchester City players - something that is becoming common. After the "triple crown" from last season, the "citizens" entered the new one with a trophy after defeating Sevilla in the European Super Cup.
City's dominance is no surprise - since millions from the United Arab Emirates arrived in east Manchester, the club has grown steadily, so it was only a matter of time before they became the best in the world.
Over the last ten years, City has spent a lot on reinforcements, on bringing in top players, so its successes were mostly linked to million-dollar contracts.
Nevertheless, the "citizens" somehow quietly developed the players in their Academy at the same time, and the last one who "emerged" from it became the hero of the Super Cup on Wednesday evening.
His name is Cole Palmer, he is only 21 years old, he has a great left foot, and in the new season he has already hit the net twice - with a super goal against Arsenal in the English Super Cup and last night against Sevilla with a header, when he gave City an equalizer and penalties.
Palmer also got a chance with Pep Guardiola last season, and at the European Under-21 Championship, thanks to his assists and goals at the end of the tournament, England conquered the continent.
The guy who was born in Manchester is on the right track to become the host of the "citizen" game (and England) in the coming period, and his teammate from nearby Stockport, Phil Foden, is already a master that the whole planet has heard about.
What kind of player Foden is is perhaps best expressed by the fact that Guardiola said of him that he is special and much more than a midfielder.
Another local boy is slowly becoming important for Pep Guardiola's team - Rico Luis is 18 years old, he can play as a defender, a stopper and a midfielder, and he also has experience in the Champions League.
Last year, with a goal against Sevilla, at the age of 17 years and 346 days, he became the youngest starter to score in the Champions League.
In addition to the kids from Manchester and the surrounding area, City has been finding young talents all over the world in recent years, so players like Brahim Diaz (Milan's top ten last season, now in Real), Eric García (Barcelona's stopper), Jadon Sancho have passed through the "Etihad Camp". (Manchester United) and Romeo Lavia (Chelsea's new signing).
That we should expect some new masters like Foden, Palmer and Lewis in the coming years is best shown by the fact that City's under-23 and under-18 teams dominate the younger categories on the Island, as well as the fact that as many as 38 of them have already played for one of England's younger selections.
