The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, is one of those who during the season often talks about the schedule of competitions, whether they are club or representative.
The players are the ones who suffer, serious injuries have become a frequent occurrence, and City itself has lost a big star - Kevin de Bruyne, who will be out of action for at least four months.
"In my first coaching season, I had 25 days to prepare the team for the Champions League qualifier against Skonto Riga. Then they just won the title. Now they give you four or five days and look how many players are injured," Guardiola said and remembered period when he led Barcelona.
And the preparatory period turned into - marketing.
"Then they force you to go to Asia, to the United States of America, for very difficult matches, big games. And the players suffer and will continue to suffer, because the show must not stop," said Guardiola.
"If there's no Tib Courtois, someone will come in for him, right? If there's no Eder Militao, someone will come again, and for De Bruyne as well... This is already a lost battle, unless the players stand up for themselves and say : "We're not going to play!" But it's a lost battle, Uefa and Fifa won't do anything," Guardiola concluded.
