Juarez - the club from Ciudad Juarez is the new home of Montenegrin footballer Andrija Vukčević.
Immediately after the important victory over Bulgaria in the qualifiers for the European Championship, our defender headed to Mexico, where he was already greeted at the airport by the smiles of the fans of his new club.
However, not so long ago - about fifteen years ago - smiles were the last thing you could see in the city on the very border with the United States of America.
The drug cartel war has perhaps hit Ciudad Juarez the hardest, with 2010 murders recorded in the city in 3.000, and even football has taken a hit, so the local club Indios de Ciudad Juarez has been shut down.
In the next few years, the government of Mexico managed to end the clan war, and as hope for a new and better life in 2015, Juarez was born - a club whose green colors will be defended by Andrija Vukčević from now on.
"Football is flourishing again and bringing smiles in Juárez, for the first time in a long time the news coming from this city is positive. Sometimes the power of football may be overestimated, but this time it is not the case," wrote the British The Guardian.
With a normal life in Juarez, the football club immediately started making big stories - already in 2015, the Second League was won, and the following years made Juarez a standard member of the elite Mexican Liga MX.
Vučkević now arrives at a club that, after seven rounds, is in third place in the table - ahead of giants such as Club America, Guadalajara, Toluca, Cruz Azul...
After Budućnost, Sevilla, Spartak Subotica, Belgian Beveren and Rijeka, it's time for probably the most unusual story in the career of our 26-year-old footballer.
