Van Basten after the chaos in Amsterdam: Stop football when we don't know how to behave in the stands

It was supposed to be a football holiday, a Dutch "classic" between Ajax and Feyenoord, and in the end it turned out to be chaos - something that used to be a rarity in that country, now it happens more and more often.

After their team was already losing 37:3 to their big rival from Rotterdam in the 0th minute, Ajax fans first forced the referee to stop the match by throwing torches and fighting, and then continued everything in front of the "Johan Cruyff Arena" and on the streets of the capital of the Netherlands.

"Do I have a solution for what's happening? No, I don't. The best thing that those responsible can do is to suspend professional football for a certain period of time. We simply need to stop playing games," was the disappointed and angry legendary Marko van Basten, visiting on " Ziggo TV".

What worries the former icon of Ajax, Milan and the Netherlands the most is that everything is repeating itself.

"We saw organized fan action - people did it on purpose, they aimed to stop the game and they did it," Van Basten added.

The famous "swan from Utrecht" believes that the solution is not even empty stands.

"No, I don't think it would bring anything - we saw that it has nothing to do with football during the corona. As I already emphasized - if we don't know how to behave adequately in stadiums, football should not be played. Unfortunately, it is obvious that we don't know that we are behaving properly," Van Basten pointed out.

He also believes that there is no need to continue the derby that was interrupted in the 55th minute.

"It should be registered as an official score of 3-0 to Feyenoord, although the fans from Rotterdam will say that they could have scored a few more goals, that it's not fair. And that's fine - let it be officially 5-0," concluded Van Garden.
