He returned to Montenegrin football after 12 seasons, spent a total of one half on the field in his first two appearances in the most trophy-winning Montenegrin club. Performance Veljko Batrović scored two goals in 45 minutes in the Budućnosti jersey.
In his debut in the "blue and white" jersey, the offensive 29-year-old midfielder scored in the victory over Petrovac (2:1). Two nights ago, in his second appearance, he came off the bench in the 73rd minute. Six minutes later, he scored for a point (2 :2) in the home match against Mladost Lob.bet.
Batrović's football career from the youth school of Partizan and the first team of Zeta led to appearances in numerous clubs in Poland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Greece. He had the most success in Slovenia, where he won the Cup with Domžale.
"We should have won the game against Mladost, we were favorites, but... In the end it doesn't even matter, but I can't be dissatisfied, because our goal is to be first in the table, and we are. I personally scored a goal in both performances, which I'm also satisfied with. Now we don't think about the missed chance. It's up to us to prepare for one of the most important games, which is Sunday's match with Dečić. They have high ambitions, they are greatly strengthened and, along with Sutjeska, they are our most serious rivals in our aspiration to win the national champion title," Batrović told "Vijesti".
After more than a decade of absence from our football, what are the most noticeable differences?
"The infrastructure, pitches and stadiums are incomparably better than before, and the teams have become more uniform. Now the so-called small clubs do not come against Budućnost and Sutjeska with the aim of losing by as small a margin as possible, but play with so many motives, I would say 300 percent above opportunities in order to win. And the work is excellent, high quality and there are a lot of great players, top individuals. The trick is the early elimination of our clubs from Europe, because those competitions come at a moment of transition and changes in the squads. In order to play in Europe, it is necessary for the team to be well-coordinated with at least two years together and very well balanced, and our clubs are not able to do that. And the last successes were made by our teams that continuously played with the same composition," believes Batrović.
With incredible talent, the status of a young representative of Montenegro, Batrović's football path did not receive the expected star status, considering the talent - at least not yet...
"A lot of factors need to come together, and my path was made difficult by the fabulously demanded compensations for moving to a big club, but above all by injuries. There is a long list of them, and my early status as a first-team player in one of the roughest leagues, which was Poland, helped . At only 17 years old, I was not prepared for that. However, when everything is put together, I am satisfied with the level of football knowledge I have reached. Now, the only drawback I feel is the lack of physical fitness, but I did not pass the preparations and on the last day of the transfer window I came to Buducnost ", says Batrović.
His arrival near Gorica has a clear goal...
"I came for the double crown, and even though I have a contract until the end of the season, I am sure that I want to stay and help the club in the European qualifiers. Yes, I want to play in Europe in the Buducnosti shirt."
Football had to be the first choice
Veljko Batrović continues the great family football tradition, and his father Zoran played Yugoslav football. The tandem of Zoran Batrović and Fadilj Vokri struck fear into all defenses in the First League of Greater Yugoslavia.
"Football is an unavoidable question at the very mention of our last name. My father and Fadilj Vokri, whose name the stadium in Pristina bears, were not just a tandem on the field. They were great friends, they visited each other, and his death hit us very hard. Vokri was a member of our families", explained Veljko Batrović.
