In anticipation of the football holiday and the visit of England at the "Toše Proeski" stadium on October 17 in the qualifiers for the Euro, the first division players in North Macedonia also had a few days of break. Montenegrin international Aleksa Marušić, he used four days to rehabilitate his injury in Nikšić and Podgorica, after which he easily trained in the first league team from Ohrid - Voska Sport.
Marušić convincingly leads the list of scorers in the 1st MFL, as he scored nine goals and also registered two assists in 10 games. Voska sport scored 12 goals and is in 10th place in the table.
- I welcome the break to recover from the injury and now we are slowly preparing for the continuation of the championship. I've been working with for a long time Miljan Radović, who is a coach here, and with us are former Sutjeska first team players Jovan Nikolic i Nikola Stijepović. We try to contribute to the team, and it's really beautiful here. We are the only first league team in the city, we have support and understanding, but also affection, especially from children when they meet us on the street. They love football here, they just need a positive result as an incentive and for a long time, for example, a draw with Italy in these qualifications was celebrated - emphasized the 24-year-old forward.
In contrast to all younger representative selections or games in Sutjeska, Dečić, Mladost GAK, Marušić in the 1st MFL has a different role - he is a classic striker.
- The point guard position suits me - I use speed, an excellent shot with my right foot and height to threaten the goal. I have been working with the coach for a long time, so there was no need to adapt to new working conditions. The club has solid conditions, an auxiliary field by the lake, and a solid stadium "Biljanini izvori". The league is similar to ours, only with more duels and runs and more strong clubs. Škendija is the favorite, it is a rich club. Struga used a combination of circumstances to take the title last year, and there are Škupi, Pandev Academy... Our goal is to achieve a series of good results after the break and wait for the winter break in peace - says Marušić.
And while the arrival of a large representation is expected in Skopje, Ohrid is looking forward to the neighboring derby with Struga in the round of XNUMX of the North Macedonian Cup.
- The two cities are very close, about 15 minutes away, and we hope for a great atmosphere and match. My goal is to continue in the same rhythm, there is already interest after the goals I score, even from richer clubs here. I have a contract until the end of the season and we will see. The most important thing is to work and improve every day - added Marušić.
He played 13 games in the jersey of the cadet, youth and youth football teams of Montenegro.
- There is still time for me to realize my dream and make my debut in the A selection. I have to work and it's never too late. The most important thing is that I score goals as a striker. I watched the match with Lebanon, many players took advantage of the opportunity, especially Edwin Kuch on debut. We have quality and it's time to finally translate it into a place in a big competition. There is really no shortage of class in our national team now. I hope for a great game and result in Belgrade, that would mean a lot - concluded Marušić.
