Inter was without Milan Škrinjar this summer, he had to come to terms with the fact that the Slovak left the City of Fashion without compensation after it became clear during the last season that there was nothing to be gained from a new contract.
Skrinjar strengthened Paris Saint-Germain and disappointed the "nerazura" fans, and the director of the club, Giuseppe Marotta, has now revealed that the footballer wanted one thing all the time and said another.
"He told us he wanted to extend his contract, but he had another plan in his head all the time. I'm disappointed with his decision - when a player doesn't extend his contract, he's not going against the club's director or president, but against the club's values and history. Škrinjar did an injustice To Inter, not to individual people," said Marota.
"He could have extended his contract, especially because we offered him several solutions. We even offered him a buyout clause. In that clause, he and Inter would be protected, but he rejected all our proposals," said Marota.
On the other hand, Lautaro Martinez should extend his contract.
"Lautaro is not Škrinjar. If he wants to stay, we will make a new agreement, as we believe that together we are on the right path. It is great to have a player who turned down numerous top clubs to stay," said Marota.
The former Juventus official also referred to Romelu Lukaku, who went to Roma instead of Inter this summer, although he convinced everyone at the Milan club for a long time that there was no other option for him.
"Lukaku is in the past, no one at Inter is thinking about him. His behavior is something that happens. It's not the first time," Marota concluded.
