For the third year in a row, Bayern will not have the chance to fight for the trophy in the German Cup.
This season, the fans were left in shock after the elimination in the second round and the sensation created by the third league team Saarbrücken with a victory over the giants - 2:1.
The Bavarians shouldn't have allowed such a slap, but it wasn't about arrogance, claims coach Thomas Tuchel.
"We weren't arrogant and we didn't take this game lightly. I can offer 100 explanations, but at the same time I can't offer any, because this shouldn't have happened to us," said Tuchel.
"We had to go through, we had to find a way to win. But we should also be fair and congratulate Saarbrücken," said Tuchel.
An experienced coach took over.
"We win as a team, we lose as a team and I'm the one who bears the responsibility. It's not a moment to point fingers, because we've been on a 14-match unbeaten streak. However, the setback couldn't have come at a worse time, because this was a game without the right to make mistakes. The defeat was hard for us, because we hate to lose, but we have to look forward," concluded Tuchel.
